Robinson Ashley (Photo) Mrs. Beatrice ("Be-at") G. Robinson Ashley, beloved wife of W. R. (Bill) Ashley of Many, died at their home on Georgia Avenue in Many, on Wednesday, December 13, 1989, at 9:05 p.m., after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Ashley, the former Beatrice Gertrude Robinson, born August 6, 1912, was the youngest child of the late Mr. & Mrs. Dan Robinson, residents of Many, from January 1907, until their deaths. She received her high school diploma from Saint John's Catholic School in Many, and attended Port Arthur College in Port Arthur, Texas. After their marriage on February 9, 1937, she and Mr. Ashley lived in Beaumont, Texas for a few years, where they managed a rooming house, and he worked in the shipyard. They moved back to Many, where they continued to reside. In later years, both she and Mr. Ashley were employed at the entrance gate office at Hodges Gardens, south of Florien. Mrs. Ashley was a devout member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many, where she sang in the choir for many years. A Scriptural Rosary, led by Father Kenneth Williams, pastor of Saint John's Catholic Church, was recited Thursday, December 14, at 7 p.m., in Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Ashley's Funeral Mass was Friday, December 15, at 2 p.m., in Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many, and burial was in Saint John's Cemetery, adjacent to the church. The Funeral mass was co-celebrated by the Reverend Monsignor Norman Buvens, a lifelong family friend, and pastor of Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Ebarb, and Reverend Kenneth Williams, pastor of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many. Mrs. Ashley is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years and ten months, W. R. (Bill) Ashley of Many; two dear sisters, Mrs. Agnes R. Schroeder, and Mrs. Leattie R. Davis, both of Many; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mrs. Ashley was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Perlie R. Springer, and Mrs. Mary R. Winbery; and six brothers, Will Robinson, Coda Robinson, Rolla Robinson, Simon Robinson, Roy Robinson, and Paul Robinson. Mrs. Ashley's pallbearers were Rusty Ashley, Floyd Giblin, Marc Sodeau, C. B. Funderburk, R. J. (Bob) Robinson, Stephen Robinson, and Gary Steckler. All funeral services were under the beautiful direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many.
