Officiating were Rev. E. M. Loftin. Burial was in the Pendleton Assembly of God Cemetery. Mrs. Adams died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 1994, in the L.S.U. Medical Center in Shreveport. Mrs. Adams was a native of Leesville, and had lived in the Coushatta area for the past 15 years. Mrs. Adams was very active in church all of her life. She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Whitchard; and one sister, Eddie Lee Merritt. Mrs. Adams is survived by her widower, Joseph R. Adams of Coushatta; two sons, Jerry Whitchard of Coushatta, and Jimmy Sandefur of Shreveport; two daughters, Sheila Sandefur of Duck River, Tenn., and Linda Slywczuk of York, Pa.; three stepdaughters, Jeannie Antee of Montgomery; Faye Lisi of Shreveport, and Shirley Ford of Ringgold; four brothers, Monroe T. Dowden Jr. of Leesville, Hoover Dowden of Gonzales, Eugene Randell Dowden of Shreveport, and Frances C. Dowden of Zwolle; one sister, Jessie Mae Harrison of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; and nine step great grandchildren.
