Mr. Alford was a native of Sabine parish, having been born and reared near Ft. Jesup. His parents were early settlers of this community. He spent his entire life in the parish. He was for 12 years a member of the Sabine Parish School Board. He was a member of the Methodist church practically all his life a supporter of the Ft. Jesup camp meeting. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 10 a.m. Saturday, the pastor, Rev. A. L. Gilmore, officiating, assisted by Rev. J. B. Williams and J. M. Pate, interment being at Ft. Jesup cemetery. Active pallbearers: Eli Smith, G. C. Reeves, W. K. Logan, Adam Key, Jack Small, John Blake. Besides the widow the deceased is survived by two sons, Ray and Herman Alford of Many; eight daughters, Mrs. Oscar Driggers, Longview, Wash., Mrs. R. M. Lowe, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. H. Q. Pugh, Mrs. J. M. Petty, Mrs. Harold Dees, Mrs. C. V. Ellison and Misses Grace and Audria Alford, all of Many; three brothers, Dr. Oscar Alford, Bellwood, Lawrence Alford, Leesville, Chris Alford; Many, three sisters, Mrs. Francis Davis, Mrs. Maurice Peterson, of Many, and Mrs. Jennie Parrott of Shreveport.
