Alford 25 Feb 1949 - Funeral service for John N. Alford, 52-year-old filling station operator of Paris, Texas, were conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon of last week at Brown-Roden funeral home by Rev. Theodore McElroy of First Christian church, assisted by Dr. L. Boyd Reavis of First Baptist church. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Paris, with Charlie Baird, James Biard, C. M. Fennell, Roy Floyd and C. R. Gray, pallbearers. Mr. Alford died the preceding Saturday in Carlsbad sanatorium, San Angelo, Texas, where he had gone for treatment 10 days earlier. He was born at Many July 16, 1897, son of the late John W and Ona Arnett Alford, but was reared in Biardstown, Texas. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Gladys Boyce, and a son, John Luke Alford, Paris, Texas, these sisters and brothers, Mrs. J. B. Sibley, Mrs. Mark Roberts and Lawrence Alford, all of Many, N. W. Alford, Houston, Texas, Mrs. Velma Henderson, Liberty, Texas, and Mrs. Myrtle Rhodes, Orange, Texas.
