Mr. Alford was born in Many, on August 18, 1938. Brue began his business venture in Many in 1963. He expanded his business to become an independent oil marketer. He owned and operated Alford Oil Company for over 30 years. He served several terms as town alderman, and mayor pro-tem. He worked tirelessly for the town and community. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 1, at the Many First Baptist Church, with interment following at Fort Jessup Cemetery. Dr. Ed Scott, the Rev. E. E. Walker, and the Rev. Billy Burkett, officiated. Survivors include his widow, Nell Woodle Alford of Many; mother, Alene Walker Alford of Many; daughter, Dana Alford and husband Loren; son, Walker R. Alford II and wife Carol of Natchitoches; two sisters, Rozsie Andries and husband Tommy of Many, and Charlotte Lovelace and husband Garland of Burnet, Texas; three brothers, Dan Alford and wife, Lina of Many, Larry Alford and wife, Kim of Many, and Steve Alford and wife, Janie of Leesville; grandchildren, Colton, Jace, Jared, and Kalei Alford; special sister-in-law, Kay Procell and husband Bill; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his father, Herman Lawrence Alford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Overton Brooks Medical Center, Shreveport, La. Warren Meadows, Many, La.
