Alford, 74, of Redding, California, were held Sept. 1, at Mountain Gate Community Church. Rev. John Reizer, of the church, officiated. Burial was at Redding Cemetery. Mr. Alford died Monday, Aug. 28, at his residence. Born Oct. 13, 1920, in Many, he moved to Shasta County in 1951 from Many. He was a foreman for Calaveras Cement Co. in Mountain Gate, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1934 in Redding, and Mountain Gate Community Church. He was also a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Sharlee; sons, Louis of Redding, Richard of Anderson, California, Fletcher of Hercules, California; and stepsons, Wesley Barron of Dunsmuir, California, and Robert Barron of Salmon, Idaho; stepdaughter, Darcia Gorman of Oakland, California; sister, Hazel Lawrason of Redding; 20 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
