Officiating at his services were his sons, Doctor James Madison Alford, and Doctor Jerome Brian Alford. Mr. Alford, a resident of Palmdale since 1962, died at his home Thursday, August 8. He was born in Fisher on August 25, 1918. Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lovenia Alford. Mr. Alford is survived by his wife Bettie Alford; and two sons, James Madison and wife Gloria of Kentucky, and Jerome Brian and wife Alma of New Mexico; five grandchildren, Jamison, Jessica, Robert, Annette, and Brian; one brother, Victor Ray Alford of New Mexico. Mr. Alford was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Palmdale. He was voted Father of the Year in 1990. Mr. Alford enlisted in the Army in 1940, and served his country from 1940-1945. He rose to the rank of Second Lieutenant. Mr. Alford graduated from the University of California in 1954, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Mr. Alford retired from California Portland Cement Company, after 26 years as plant manager.
