Alford Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 20, for Mrs. Ross C. Alford, 86, who died Wednesday, after a long illness. The services were held in the First Methodist Church, with the Rev. W. H. Bengston officiating. Burial was in the Ft. Jesup Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Funeral Home of Many. Survivors include one son, Herman Alford of Many; seven daughters, Mrs. C. V. Ellison, Mrs. J. M. Petty, and Mrs. H. Q. Pugh, all of Many, Mrs. W. H. Dees, and Mrs. W. M. Wenner of Lake Charles, Mrs. Maurice Broussard of Lake Arthur, and Mrs. R. M. Lowe of Dallas, Tex.; one brother, the Rev. Tom Smith of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Ola Sloneker of Plainview, Texas, and Mrs. A. B. Cherry of Santa Monica, California; 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Grandsons serving as pallbearers were H. Q. Pugh Jr., Joe M. Petty, Walker Ross Alford, Curtis Ross Dees, Bill Wenner, Alford Broussard, Steve Alford, and Larry Alford. Great grandsons serving as junior pallbearers were Scott Pugh, and Robert Clark.
