Alford, 74, of Many, succumbed in his home on Toledo Bend Lake on Highway 1215, at 2:15 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 2. Alford, who was a heart patient, died before Jenkins' Ambulance Service arrived to transport him to a local hospital. On hand to assist were deputies from the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Dept., who contacted the coroner, Dr. W. W. Poimboeuf. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Alford of Many; one son, Harold Alford of Odgen, Utah; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Barry of Inglewood, Calif.; three brothers, Henry Alford of Many, John Alford of Odessa, Tex., and James Alford of Houston, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Marr of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Jula Belle Dillard of Natchitoches; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m., in the Zwolle Church of Christ. The Rev. George Hook officiated. Burial was in the Fort Jesup Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
