B.) Alexander, 78, of Shreveport, former resident of Many, were held Friday, August 9, 1996, at 3 p.m. Officiating was Rev. Rodney Duron, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Shreveport. Interment was at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Mr. Alexander passed away August 6, in Shreveport, after a brief illness. He was born in Heflin, and retired after 36 years with Ethyl Corporation in Baton Rouge, was in real estate sales in the Army/Toledo Bend area, served as chairman of the Sabine Parish Planning Commission from August, 1983, until April, 1989, was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Many Lodge #411. He also served as a Captain in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he served in the Army National Guard until his retirement in 1951. He was a fishing and hunting enthusiast. The family wishes to express their special thanks for the loving care given Daddy by Andrea Ballard, and the staffs of Shreveport Manor, and South Park Guest Care. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne W. Alexander of Shreveport; son, John P. Alexander and wife, Glenda of Katy, Tex.; stepdaughter, Peggy Hayes and husband Dr. Joe Hayes of Shreveport; stepson, Sam Wimbish III and wife Laurel of New Port Richie, Fla.; sister, Nelwyn Newstadt of Shreveport; brother, Prentis Alexander and wife Lorene of Kansas City, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
