Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denise Lightle officiating. Graveside services followed at 4 p.m. in the Converse Cemetery with Edward Burnett officiated. Mrs. Allen was born Sept. 24, 1916 in Minden. Mrs. Allen was a retired school teacher. She had formerly taught at the Converse High School for 25 years, and had also taught at the Noble High School for 10 years. Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Minden High School and of Northwestern State University. She was a member of the Converse Methodist Church. Formerly a longtime resident of Converse, Mrs. Allen had lived in Lufkin for over 10 years. Survivors include two sons, and one daughter-in-law, William G. and Elizabeth A. Allen of Elkhart, Ind., and Eric Anthony Allen of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Kling of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Cochran of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, William Travis Allen, on March 19, 1977. Pallbearers were William Gregory Allen, Curtis Spivey, Bill Stovall, Martin Cochran, B. F.
