Melvin Earl Allen

  Services for Mr. Melvin Earl Allen, 18, of Shreveport, were held
Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m., in Springridge Baptist Church. The
Rev. Charles Shufflin, and Horace Hampton, minister of Southern
Hills Church of Christ officiated. Burial was in Springridge
Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, La., under the direction of Rose-Neath
Funeral Home Southside Chapel.

  Mr. Allen, a native of Sabine Parish, La., died at 10:40 p.m.,
Saturday, Sept. 10, 1983, in Physicians and Surgeons Hospital,
following a sudden illness. He had been a resident of Shreveport
all of his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

  He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earlton Allen of
Shreveport; his paternal grandmother, Myrtie Allen of Pleasant
Hill; his maternal grandmother, Elaine Dew of Shreveport, his
maternal grandfather, James D. Dew, Sr., of Bruce, Miss.; his
great grandfather, P. B. Jackson of Many, La.; two sisters, Amy
Allen, and Gala Allen, both of Shreveport; numerous aunts,
uncles, and cousins; and a host of friends.

  Pallbearers were Ricky Seegers, Bobby Isgitt, Richard Speakers,
Clinton Ebey, Fred Blyndell, and Harvey Jones.
