Anthony, 58, died from an accidental shotgun wound in the head, Monday, Aug. 12, at 7 a.m., at his place just off State Hwy. 6 west, on the Negreet Cutoff Road. Funeral services were held Tuesday, at 3 p.m., in the Beulah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Sullivan officiating. Burial was in the New Siloam Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Anthony's nephews served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were David Bray, Rudolph Self, Elton Salter, Roy Stroud, Howard Stroud, and Howard Wright. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. R. L. Anthony of Many; one brother, Clyde Anthony of Many; and five sisters, Mrs. Carl Googain of New Orleans, Mrs. Neva Pearson of Zwolle, Mrs. Mildred Wright of Negreet, Mrs. Emma Lee Delano of Alaska, and Mrs. Helen Williams of Shreveport. Mr. Anthony's mother told Deputy Alfice Brumley, who investigated the accident, that he had left that morning with a .12 gauge shotgun, apparently to go to the corn patch to shoot crows. He had made it to the back corner of the patch, and was attempting to crawl through a fence, when the gun accidentally discharged. He was killed instantly. Sabine Parish Coroner, Dr. J. Lane Sauls also investigated the accident.
