All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mary Sandel Anderson (Photo) Mary Elizabeth Sandel Anderson died at her home in Sandel, on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, after a lengthy illness. She was 77. Mary was born, September 6, 1923, in Sandel, to Monroe Addison Sandel, and Jessie Louise Pruitt Sandel. She graduated from Florien High School, and attended business school in Lake Charles. She married Luther Lee Anderson of Florien. The were divorced. She retired after 30 years of service with the federal government, and belonged to the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a lifelong member of Prospect Methodist Church, where she was the pianist and treasurer for many years. She also enjoyed crocheting, and was an avid reader. Survivors include her sisters, Katherine Self, and Sammie Morales of Florien, Addison Sandel of Many, and Jessie V. Grimes of Pasadena, Texas; five of her children, Robert Anderson, Michael Anderson and wife Debbie, and Samuel Anderson of Florien, Arlene Martinez and husband Sylvester of Zwolle, and Carole Anderson and husband William Kissick of Boulder, Colo.; and seven grandchildren, Austin Brown, and Jan of North Carolina, Jason Martinez and wife Liz of Shreveport, Shane Anderson and his wife Amy of Kingsville, Texas, Suni Edison of Woodbridge, Va., Christopher Brown and wife Gina of Zwolle, and Marilyn and Tessa Anderson of Florien; seven great grandchildren, Michael Rogers, and Kyle Martinez, Ethan, Joey, and Susannah Anderson, and Lance, and Dylan Brown; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. A daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Anderson Brown; two sisters, Velma, and an unnamed infant; and her parents preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at Prospect U.M.C. in Florien on Friday, March 9. The Rev. John Koelemay, and Dr. William Boyd co-officiated. Interment was at the Prospect Cemetery.
