All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Thomas Lucien "Luke" Andries (Photo) Mr. Thomas Lucien "Luke" Andries, 88, of Jackson, Miss., a retired executive, died of respiratory failure, Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at St. Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Services were held at St. Therese Catholic Church, with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Mr. Andries was a native of Many. He served an apprenticeship with L & A Railroad in 1938. At Shreveport Trade School, Mr. Andries taught welding to shipbuilders prior to World War II. He had lived in Jackson, Miss., since 1946. He pioneered the welding business in central Mississippi. Opening Andries Welding Supply in 1946, and AAA Cylinder Gasses in 1963. He began Southern Equipment Supply Co. in 1966, a wholesale welding warehouse. He was a fourth degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, and was past governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Jackson Lodge 1426. Survivors include widow of 59 years, Doris Phares; four daughters, Lucille Phillips, Mary Jane Mason, Linda Walshock, and Janet Keys, all of Jackson, Miss.; three sons, Jim Andries of Yazoo City, and John Andries, and Mike Andries, both of Jackson, Miss.; two brothers, Hubert Andries, and Harold Andries of Many; one sister, Irene Gandy of Many; 19 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
