Ammons, Jr. - May 19, 1988 Services for R. D. Ammons, Jr. was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, in the chapel of Rush Funeral Home of Pineville with the Rev. Joe Kelley officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Pineville. Ammons, 93, of Rock Hill Community died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, in his residence. He was born August 31, 1894 at Melrose, Texas, grew up at Negreet, and was the son of R. D. and Eddie Mae Sibley Ammons. He was a retired painter and a member of Alexandria Church of God. Survivors include his widow, Lou Veina Ammons of Rock Hill; six sons, Earl K. Ammons and James E. Ammons, both of Colfax, Russell E. Ammons and Paul S. Ammons both of Rock Hill, Ralph D. Ammons of Farmington, Mo., and Glen Ammons of Archer, Fla.; eight daughters, Louise Cosby of many, Eddie Mae Hines of Alexandria, Betty L. Simmons of Ball, Retha A. Davis of Greenville, Kansas City, Myrtie G. Leatherman of Simms, Mary E. Volim of Colfax, Beatrice Reid of East St. Louis, Ill. and Lucille Robbins of Daytona Beach, Fla. And 147 grandchildren, great grandchidlren and great great grandchildren. Pallbearers were the Rev. James Spencer , the Rev. Glenn Alderman, Dick Simmons, Earl Davis, Malcolm Leatherman and Kenneth Cosby.
