Ammons, 71, of Many, Saturday, Jan. 13, at 3:45 p.m. Mr. Ammons, a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, served on the Sabine Parish School Board for 18 years. He was noted for his interest and hard work in community and civic affairs. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 15, in the Calvary Baptist Church of Many, with the Rev. Olan Walters officiating. Burial was in the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. O. L. Ammons of Many; a son, Cliff Ammons of Many; two daughters, Mrs. D. J. Slaven, and Mrs. L. H. Reeves, both of Pasadena, Tex.; two brothers, R. D. Ammons of Colfax, and Orie Ammons of Many; two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Wade of Many, and Mrs. L. D. Parrott of Houston, Tex.; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were L. D. Parrott, Robert Speight, T. M. Phillips, Danny Slaven, Coleman Hippler, and Kenneth Ammons.
