Ayer, 65, of Florien, were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6, in the Hixson Funeral Home Southside Chapel, Lake Charles, La. The Rev. John Koelemay officiated, with interment at the Highland Memory Gardens. Mr. Ayer died Thursday, September 3, in Sulphur. A native of Enid, Oklahoma, he moved to the Sulphur-Lake Charles area in 1938. He retired from Cle-Con, after 35 years, and was a member of local 5000 OCAW. In Florien, he was a member of VFW Post 8557, Prospect Methodist Church, and a volunteer fireman for Glenwood Park. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Marjorie F. Ayer; two sons, James Michael Ayer of Sulphur, and Gary M. Ayer of Plano, Texas; one daughter, Marjorie Lee Ayer of Houston, Texas; one brother, W. W. Ayer Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Louise Spencer of Bedford, Texas; and four grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Hospice Service, or Prospect Methodist Church in Florien.
