Ayers, 80, of Mansfield, were held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., in the Beulah Baptist Church. Bro. Freddie Hippler, and Bro. Ira Gamble, Jr. officiated, with burial following at the Beulah Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Mr. Ayers died on Sunday, Dec. 14, following an extended illness. He is survived by his widow, Lena Ayers of Zwolle; 3 sons, Elton Ayers, Harold Ayers, Mike Ayers, all of Houston, Tex.; 2 stepsons, James Hippler, Richardland, Tex., and Wayne Hippler, Houston, Tex.; 10 daughters, Essie Lee Gentry, Many, Lela Jeans Merryville, Johnnie Dyess, Shreveport, Polly Batson, Many, Evon Wroblesky, Buffalo, N. Y., Shirley Freeman, Liberty, Ma., Melva Hayes, Hayes, La., Wanda Barrett, Atlanta, Tex., Virginia Orfilla, Slidell, and Tommie McDaniel, Grand Cane; 2 brothers, the Rev. R. C. Ayers, Shreveport; 63 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
