Ayres, 80, of Mansfield, were held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., in the Beulah Baptist Church. Bro. Freddie Hippler, and Bro. Ira Gamble Jr. officiated, with burial following at the Beulah Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Ayres died Sunday, Dec. 14, following an extended illness. He is survived by his wife, Lena Ayres of Zwolle; three sons, Elton Ayres, Harold Ayres, and Mike Ayres, all of Houston, Tex.; two stepsons, James Hippler of Richardland, Tex., and Wayne Hippler of Houston, Tex.; ten daughters, Essie Lee Gentry of Many, Lela Jeans of Merryville, Johnnie Dyess of Shreveport, Polly Batson of Many, Evon Wroblesky of Buffalo, N. Y., Shirley Freeman of Liverty, Mass., Malva Hayes of Hayes, Wanda Barrett of Atlanta, Tex., Virginia Ortillo of Slidell, and Tommie McDaniel of Grand Cane; two brothers, the Rev. R. C. Ayres of Shreveport, and C. E. Ayres of Pendleton; one sister, Mrs. Isler Cryer of Shreveport; 63 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Steve Gentry of West Monroe, Johnny Ayres, and Kenneth Earl Ayres, both of Houston, Tex., David Batson of Many, and Harold Ayres Jr., a serviceman stationed in Kentucky.
