Ayers, 82, were held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 1989, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Cecil Janway, Superintendent of Louisiana District of the Assemblies of God Church, assisted by the Rev. J. M. Cason, pastor emeritus of Glad Tidings Assembly of God. Burial was at Forest Park West Cemetery. Rev. Ayers died Sunday, April 16, 1989, at 5:40 p.m., at Schumpert Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Many, La., and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1950. Rev. Ayers was a retired Assembly of God Minister. He began his ministry in 1925, and was ordained in 1933. He was a sectional Presbyter for 19 years, and pioneered thirteen new churches in Louisiana. He is survived by two sons, Pete Ayers of Shreveport, and Joe Ayers of Texarkana, Texas; one foster son, Jesse Carrigan of Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Vermor Burge, Jewell Fogger, and Pat Arnold, all of Shreveport; one brother, C. E. Ayers of Many; 14 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers were the ministers of the Louisiana District of the Assembly of God Churches.
