All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Benjamin Harvey Arthur (Photo) Funeral services for Benjamin Harvey Arthur, 98 1/2, were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Alford Heights Baptist Church in Many. Officiating was the Rev. Jeff Hoffman, assisted by the Rev. Glenn Flenniken. Interment followed at the Florien Cemetery. A lifelong resident of Sabine Parish, Mr. Arthur was a teacher, and principal in the school system for 40 years. He was principal at Alliance, Noble, Belmont, and Oak Grove. He was a past president of Louisiana Retired Teachers Association for many years. He was Baptist, and a deacon in the Baptist Church since 1934. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Oma Jordan Arthur; son, Eugene B. Arthur; two grandsons, Joel Arthur, and Randy Arthur; three sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include daughter, LaVern Lee and husband Lehron of Shreveport; son, Benny W. Arthur and wife Ann of Lake Charles; daughter-in-law, Billie Arthur of Keithville; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two sisters, Joyce Smith of Natchitoches, and Gertie Patrick of Ragley; and many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Pallbearers were grandsons, Jerry W. Lee, Alan Arthur, Brian Arthur; and nephews, Earl Arthur, Glenn Cook, Ernest Mothershed, Robert Lynn Patrick, and Billy Ray Jordan. The family would like to express our thanks to the staff at Garden Park Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
