Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 16, at Florien Baptist Church, with interment following at Toro Cemetery. The Rev. Glen Flenniken, the Rev. Bill Hines, and Dr. Ed Scott officiated. Survivors include one son, Earl Arthur and wife Loretta of Natchitoches; two daughters, Murrel Blake of Many, and Ruth Leach and husband V. L. of Florien; three sisters, Olivia Carnline, Lizzie Carnline, and Doris Faust, all of Many; two brothers, Younger Stewart of Robeline, and the Rev. Mackey Stewart of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mrs. Arthur was preceded in death by her husband, Howard H. Arthur; four sisters, Melvina Mathews, Thelma Knippers, Audrey Malone, and Novis Lambert; and three brothers, Alex Stewart, Redic Stewart, and Eldred Stewart. Pallbearers were James Manning, Curtis Gene Manning, Dennis Arthur, Johnny Earl Manning, John Blake III, and Rodney Arthur. Warren Meadows, Many, La.
