Arthur, a resident of Many since 1937, died Wednesday, August 12, at 5 a.m., in the T. E. Schumpert Memorial Sanitarium, Shreveport, Louisiana, as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage, suffered early Tuesday morning. Born in Pineville on June 5, 1916, Mrs. Arthur spent all of her adult years in Many. She had served as Secretary to the District Attorney, J. Reuel Boone, since April, 1947, and in that capacity, had distinguished herself as a superior legal secretary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Many. Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur were conducted at the First Baptist Church of Many on Thursday, August 13, 1964, at 3 p.m. The pastor, Dr. Kelly Fitzgerald, delivered the funeral address. Burial was in the Many Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Bernice C. Arthur of Many; two sons, Thomas Coleman, and James Robert, both of Many; her mother, Mrs. Hortense Goad of Tioga, Louisiana; three brothers, Ollie B. Fuglaar of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Rudolph Fuglaar of Atlanta, Georgia, and Russell Fuglaar of Tioga, Louisiana; and two sisters, Mrs. Bina Birchfield of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Mrs. Hortense Fowler of Memphis, Tennessee. Pallbearers were Judge William A. Ponder, T. M. Phillips, Horace Tompkins, J. E. Dees, L. O. Elliott, J. Reuel Boone.
