Burial was in the Garden of Memories under the direction of Jacob Schoen & Sons Funeral Home of New Orleans. Mr. Armstrong, a native of Zwolle, died at 10:46 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10. He was 56. He is survived by his widow, Ann Hebert Armstrong of Metairie; his mother, Mary Ollie Bell; two sons, John R. Armstrong Jr. and Scott Joseph Armstrong; a daughter, Amy Marie Bairnsfather; his in-laws, Alfred and Gloria Hebert; two brothers, Don Armstrong of Bossier City and Manuel Armstrong of Zwolle; twelve sisters, Lucille Patton of Arkansas, Corrine Juneau and Mable Sanchez, both of Evergreen; Jo Ann Youngblood, Charlotte Wedgeworth, Linda Anthony and Darlene Knippers, all of Many; Hattie Chambers, Betty Armstrong and Genevive Gordon, all of Zwolle; Mary Campbell of Deweyville, Texas, and Nell Arterberry of Yokum, Texas; and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jonathan, Kenny, Bethany and Corey Armstrong; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his father, the late Dennis Washington Armstrong, Sr., five brothers and two sisters. Jacob Schoen & Son New Orleans, La.
