  19 Apr 1940 - Last rites for Katie Dillard Green, age 72 years,
were held Monday at 3 p.m. at Cutright cemetery, Rev. C. T. Kennedy
officiating.

  Surviving, one brother, L. A. Dillard.  Funeral directed by the
Dennis-Green funeral home.

  19 Apr 1940 - Funeral rites for Mrs. J. B. Law, age 59 years, were
held last Saturday at 11 o'clock at Middle Creek, Revs. W. G. Bailey
and J. H. Ricks officiating.  Interment in the Middle Creek cemetery.

  Pallbearers:  Oren Miller, Lee Hayes, Calvin Smith, Huel Oxley, Hamp
Law and Merlin Miller.

  Surviving are two sons, J. B. Law, Jr, and J. W. Law; five
daughters, Fay and Heflon Law, Mrs. C. M. Smith, and Mrs. Lee Hayes
and Huel Oxley.

  The funeral was directed by the Dennis-Green funeral home.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Russia Lewing

  19 Apr 1940 - Last rites for Mrs. Russia Lewing, age 60, were held
at Pine Knot Wednesday at 10 a.m.  Rev. Teekel officiating, interment
in the Pine Knot cemetery.

  Surviving are the children, five sons, Hugh, Wallace, Ted, Johnnie,
Frank Lewing; five sisters, Mrs. Sallie Fox, Mrs. Sussie Crittendon,
Mrs. Mammie Dear, Mrs. Lola Bounds, Mrs. Luttie Leggett; six
grandchildren.

  Mrs. Lewing, or Aunt Russ as she was known to the many who love her,
had been in ill health for some time.

  12 Apr 1940 - Last rites for Mrs. W. D. Stewart, age 71 years, were
held at Mt. Carmel Tuesday at 2 p.m., Rev. W. G. Bailey officiating;
interment in the Mt. Carmel cemetery, Dennis-Green funeral home
directing the funeral.

  Surviving are the husband, W. D. Stewart; one sister, Mrs. W. F.
Norsworthy; two brothers, Henry and A. K. Skinner of Florien route
one.

  Mrs. Stewart, or "Aunt Sis," as she was known to the many who loved
her, had been in ill health for some time.

  19 Apr 1940 - Last rites for Jessie J. Tibbits, age 62 years, were
held at Marthaville Thursday, April 11, at 2:30 with Rev. G. St. Andre
officiating.  Funeral directed by the Dennis-Green funeral home of
Many.

  Deceased had been in ill health some time.

  Pallbearers were:  DeVance Rains, Lee Maines, Don Scaife, Willie
Berry, Joe Veuleman and Frank B. Farmer.

  Surviving:  wife, Mrs. E. E. Tibbits and nine children, Mrs. M.
Wende and Mrs. Georgie Zchoche, Austin, Texas; Virgil and Fernie,
Ajo, Ariz., Smillie and Nellie, Cleveland, Ohio; Jim Tibbitts,
Junction City, Ark., and Mrs. Grace Veuleman, Marthaville.

  Interment in the Marthaville cemetery.

  12 Apr 1940 - Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Walker, daughter of
Mrs. Joe Smith and the late Joe Smith of Robeline were held Monday,
April 8, in the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs.
A. B. Tramel.  Rev. L. N. Hoffpauir, pastor of the Methodist church
assisted by Rev. C. W. Willams, pastor of the First Baptist church,
conducted the rites.  Interment was in Fort Jesup cemetery.
Dennis-Green funeral home in charge of arrangements.

  Surviving Mrs. Walker are her mother, Mrs. Joe Smith; sisters, Mrs.
Lynn Maulden of Port Arthur, Texas, Mrs. A. B. Tramel of Many, Mrs.
C. W. Hughes of Port Arthur, Texas, Mrs. W. A. Ragan of Phoenix,
Ariz.; brothers, Joe, Tom and Carter Smith of Robeline and a shot of
other relatives.
