The Sabine Index - Richard Colston

  22 Apr 1949 - Death claimed Richard Colston, 74, at 9 a.m.
Friday of last week at his home near Robeline. Funeral services
were at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fort Jesup Baptist church by Rev. H.
O. Worthy, assisted by Rev. J. S. Todd. Interment followed under
direction Massingill funeral home.

  Pallbearers were Sylvester Howard, Aubrey, Bill, Lloyd and
Esther Colston.

  Surviving relatives include: the widow, Mrs. Sadie
Bell Colston, Robeline; sons, Leon, Lonsie, Bernice, Earnest,
Autrey, Eugene and Hewitt Colston, all of Robeline; brother
Dewitt Colston, Many; sisters, Mrs. Mattie Stringer, Toro; nine
grandchildren.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Annie May Corley

  22 Apr 1949 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Annie May Corley, 34,
who passed away at a Shreveport hospital 7:40 a.m. Wednesday of
last week were conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Antioch Baptist
church by Rev. G. W. Reppond, assisted by Rev. Dan Jones.
Interment followed under direction Massingill funeral home.

  Pallbearers were L. B. Skinner, J. F. Cavanaugh, Buddy
Hildebrand, Hubert Powell, Charlie Powell and George Davis.

  Surviving relatives include; husband, Jessie Corley,
Fisher; sons, Kenneth, Conrad, and Quinton, all of Fisher;
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Hopkins, Florien; sisters, Mrs. Ave
Del Herrington, Anacoco, Miss Myrtle Hopkins, Leesville, Mrs.
Willie Horne and Miss Jackie Hopkins, both of Florien; brothers

The Sabine Index - John Claude Duggan

  29 Apr 1949 - Funeral services were conducted Monday at
Florien Baptist church for John Claude Duggan, 68, who died
Saturday night at a Deridder hospital. He was a life-long
resident of Sabine parish. Officiating at the services were Revs.
C. W. Williams, W. G. Bailey and Hardy, with interment in
Prospect cemetery.

  Pallbearers were Joe Martin, W. P. Clark, Horace Weeks, E. L.
Allen, Jarvis Westbrook and Joe Cavanaugh.

  Survivors include his wife, two sons, George Duggan
of Deridder, Thurman E. Duggan, Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs.
Ruth Windham, Grand Prairie, Texas; five brothers, Enoch Duggan,
Columbia, South America, Mack and Harvey Duggan, Florien, Roy
Duggan, DeQuincy and Claude Duggan, Port Arthur, Texas; two
sisters, Mrs. Audrey Keadle, New Orleans, and Mrs. Jennie
Collier, Alexandria.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Etta Johnson

  29 Apr 1949 - Mrs. Etta Johnson, 51, expired in a New Orleans
hospital Monday. At the time the Index goes to press funeral
services were incomplete. Massingill funeral home under who
direction interment will be made, stated that last rites will be
at Rocky Mount church by Rev. Willie Prothro.

  Surviving relatives include; daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Getsit of
Elmira, N. Y.; Mrs. B. M. McLeod of Alexandria, Misses Betty Jean
and Annie Mae Sanders and Mary Louise Fleming, all of Alexandria;
sons, Elmer Craig, Robeline; father, R. L. Primm, Vicksburg,
Miss., brothers, Charlie and Norrie Primm of Monroe, Tom Primm,
Bastrop, Emmett Primm, Robeline; J. P. Primm, Fisher; sisters,
Mrs. J. R. Washburn, Elmira, Mo., Mrs. W. M. Halford, Jr.,
Meadeville, Miss., and four grandchildren.

The Sabine Index - Miss Oletha Marie Leggett

  1 Apr 1949 - Miss Oletha Marie Leggett, 25, passed away at
her home near Many Sunday, March 21, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. the following day at Fort
Jesup Baptist church by Rev. H. O. Worthy, pastor. Interment was
in Fort Jesup cemetery under direction Massingill funeral home.

  Surviving relatives include: parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Leggett,

near Fisher Thursday of last week. Last rites were at Lewing
cemetery near Florien 11 a.m. Interment was under direction

Mrs. Reata Scroggins and Miss Georgia Ray Lewing, all of Florien,

  8 Apr 1949 - Funeral rites for Gerald S. Wright, age 22, who
was burned to death when his home was razed by fire early
Saturday morning were held at 4 p.m. the same afternoon at
Antioch Baptist church near Florien by Rev. Charles S. Miers,
assisted by Rev. W. G. Bailey. Interment followed under direction
Massingill funeral home.

  Pallbearers were Melvin, Melton and Vernice Wright, V. L.
Leach, Jr., Willie Dewil and V. L. Leach, Sr.

  Surviving relatives include; widow, Mrs. Gwendoal
Wright of Florien; daughter Judy Gail, Florien; mother, Mrs.
Victor Wright, Many; sisters Misses Imogene, Wanda and Dorothy
