Stockman officiating. Burial was in Lewing cemetery under direction of Dennis-Green funeral home. Surviving are the widow and eight children, Jack Berel, Sam Berel, Elmer Berel, Mrs. R. E. Williams, Mrs. John Hollis of Florien, Mrs. Charley Jackson of Bossier City, Mrs. Charles Bonomo of Marshall, Texas and Mrs. A. R. Hale of Port Arthur, Texas; one sister, Mrs. J. M. Alfred Brown, Rev. Joe Flanagan and Rev. E. M. Causey officiating. Funeral directed by the Dennis-Green funeral home. Interment was in the Zwolle cemetery with the Mason in charge of services at the grave. Active pallbearers: Max Brown, J. C. DeLoach, T. G. Mathis, O. A. and A. A. DeWitt, C. W. Bryant, C. I. Crow and W. E. Walsh. Mr. Cook was accidently killed when a kiln door fell on him. He died within 15 minutes after the accident at the doctor's office. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Carrie M. He had just had an affividavit birth certificate filed in order to enter the U. S. army Monday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Laroux of Mansfield. Rains 2 Aug 1940 - Funeral services for L. A. Rains, better know at Arnold Rains, who died at the home of his son. F. L. Rains of Marthaville Friday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at Marthaville Friday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at Marthaville cemetery, Rev. Prothro of Marthaville conducted the services and the Drewitt funeral home of Mansfield was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rains had many friends in Marthaville and surrounding parishes. He had held the office of constable and deputy sheriff for 14 yeas in Natchitoches parish. During the time he served in this capacity he made many staunch friends. Mr. Rains is survived by three daughters and one son, his wife having died 23 years ago. The daughters are: Mrs. O. P. Johnson, Shreveport; Mrs. Ruby Buswell, Jonesville: Mrs. E. R. Riles, Rodessa. The son is F. L. Rains of Marthaville, One brother, Dixon Rains, Many, and seven grandchildren. The pallbearers were: Carl Knott, E. E. Law, E. E. Campbell, Ed Moore and C. D.
