Brown, former Many citizen and merchant, was buried at Pelican 10:30 a.m. last Friday. For many years he operated one of Many's largest stores. E. Corley, Louann, Ark. Funeral rites were conducted at Florien Baptist church 2 p.m. last Friday by the pastor, Rev. V. K. Fletcher, assisted by Rev. Troy Wheeler. Interment was at Mt. Carmel cemetery under direction Massingill funeral home. Pallbearers were John Wright, Melton Wright, Lee Jordan, Dan Lucius and Heywood Williams. Surviving relatives are sons, Rev. O. M. Corley, Colfax, Luther and Rufus Corley, both of Florien, J. G. Corley, Houston, Texas, B. Corley, Natchitoches; daughters, Mrs. Ethel Stroud and Mrs. Grace Miller, both of Florien, Mrs. Truie Jones, Morgan City; brothers D. R. Freedom community Aug. 21. Funeral rites were conducted at Mt. Freedom Baptist church church by Rev. Frank Laurence, assisted by Rev. W. M. Greer. Interment was in Mt. Freedom cemetery under direction of Massingill funeral home. Pallbearers were: Frank Veuleman, J. O. Smith, Gather Dees, Tom Rivers, Leo Bush, W. H. Brumley. Surviving are: daughter, Mrs. Zula Rivers, Many; two sons, J. D. Johnson, Many, and C. H. Johnson, Shreveport; a sister, Mrs. Laura Parker, Many, two brothers, Willie DeBose, Shreveport, and John DeBose of Oak Hill community; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was well known in Sabine parish, being a charter member of Mt. Freedom Baptist church. C. Box in DeRidder, following a long illness. She was the widow of the late A. B. Jordan. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Carmel church. Interment was in Mt. Carmel cemetery with Massingill funeral home in charge. Mrs. Jordan is survived by: daughter, Mrs. E. C. Box, DeRidder and J. T. Jordan, Shreveport; four brothers, T. J. Coburn, Leesville, L. E., P. SoRelle 8 Aug 1947 - Funeral rites for Judge Don E. SoRelle, age 90 years, were held 4 p.m. Tuesday from Many First Baptist church. Rev. Dr. Kyle M. Yates officiated. Interment was in Many cemetery under direction Massingill funeral home. Pallbearers were: W. E. Brogan, Jr., Andrew SoRelle, Henry M. SoRelle, Jr., Dr. Milton Talbot, Jr., G. M. Garton, E. C. Dillon. Surviving are son: A. C. SoRelle, Houston, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. O. O. Cleveland, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. W. E. Brogan, New Orleans, and Mrs. W. M. Talbot, Leesville; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Judge SoRelle was well known in Sabine, having served in the state legislature, also in the Eleventh Judicial district. He resided in Many where he practiced law until 1929, then moving to Houton, Texas, retiring from law practice. He was also a newspaper man, having operated The Sabine Banner at one time; a churchman, having served as moderator of the Baptist association a number of ties. He was a conscientious worker for an ideal educational system for Sabine parish. He also served as mayor of Many. W. G. Barnard, pastor Fisher Baptist church. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Susie Lester at Gandy, following a long illness. Surviving relatives are one son and three daughters, Mrs. Susie Lester, Gandy, Will Walker, Gandy, Mrs. Beulah Hennigan, Leesville, Mrs. B. C. Wimberly, Vivian; 20 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. The funeral was directed by Massingill funeral home.
