Gentry 26 Aug 1949 - Funeral services for Allen R. Gentry, who died at his home in Hornbeck Sunday August 14, were conducting by Rev. J. A. Hall, pastor First Baptist church, Hornbeck. The services were at Ebenezer Baptist church near Florien, 10 a.m. Tuesday of last week where he was laid to rest. Mr. Gentry was born March 13, 1867, and was 82 years five months and one day old. He had lived in Hornbeck for several years. Surviving relatives include three sons, J. R. and Pat W. Gentry, Hornbeck, and W. E. Gentry, League City, Texas, two daughters, Miss Nell Gentry and Mrs. Cecil Ross, both of Hornbeck; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at First Baptist church, Many, at 10 a.m. Friday by Rev. C. W. Williams of DeRidder, assisted by Rev. Cleburne W. Quaid, pastor Many Methodist church. Interment followed under direction Massingill funeral home. Pallbearers were Ernest Salter, J. L. Norris, Peter F. DeKeyser, Amos Knippers, Cecil Davis. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside. Surviving relatives include: the widow of Many; daughter, Mrs. Morris DeVillier, Ville Platte; son, M/Sgt Charles B. Jackson, San Angelo, Texas; brother, Claude Jackson, Biloxi, Mills, and six grandchildren. Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the Spanish-American war, having served in the Philippines. West 5 Aug 1949 - Mrs. Ben D. West died at Leesville hospital on June 4, after seven days of illness. Funeral services were conducted at Plainview June 5. Rev. E. E. Fields, pastor of First Baptist church of Leesville, officiated, assisted by rev. R. Graham, pastor of Plainview Baptist church. Pallbearers were: Rick Hampton, J. C. Leach, John Craft, Alvin Simmons, Alfred Craft and Norris Craft. She was born July 4, 1931. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband, Ben D. West; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Branch; two sisters, a brother and many other relatives and friends. She always had a smile and was loved by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed here on earth, but our loss is heaven's gain.
