Buvens, 75, of Many died at 2 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, in a Shreveport hospital, following an illness of several weeks. He is survived by two sons, Francis N. Buvens of Galveston, Texas, and the Rev. Norman C. Buvens of Shreveport; one daughter, Mrs. Bobbie B. Bailey of Many; three granddaughters; and a brother and sister. Funeral services were held Nov. 7, at 10 a.m., in St. John's Catholic Church. A Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Norman Buvens, assisted by the Rev. M. R. Gremillion, former pastor of St. John's, and by the Rev. Wilbur Cloutier of Natchitoches. The sermon was delivered by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John C. Vandegaer, pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Shreveport. His Excellency, the Most Rev. Charles P. Greco was represented by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry Van der Putten, the Vicar General of the Diocese. Also present was the Rt. Rev. Msgr. DeKeuwer of Natchitoches, the Rev. William Pierce of Ebarb, and Rev. Earl Provenza, and the Rev. Kiley of Monroe, the Rev. Steve Testa of Shreveport, and the Rev. William Kwaaitaal of Many. The ceremony at the cemetery was performed by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Van der Putten. Pallbearers were Murray Davis, Jack Hubley, W. P. Bryan Jr., Cleveland Hubley, W. H. Andries, and Harold Andries.
