Samuel Bass

  Samuel Joseph Bass Sr., 58, of Hemphill, Tex., died Wednesday,
Feb. 15, in a Shreveport hospital, following a long illness.

  Funeral services were at 2 p.m., in the Starr Funeral Home, with
the Rev. Clarence Howell officiating. Burial was in the Hemphill
Cemetery.

  Mr. Bass is survived by three sons, David Brown of Pensacola,
Fla., Wayne Brown of Lufkin, and Sam Brown Jr. of Lufkin; four
daughters, Ruby Mae Howard, and Alpha Louise Johnson of
Nacogdoches, Mary Ann McFarland of Buna, and ? ? of Hemphill;
three brothers, Woodrow Bass, Richard Bass, and Ernest Bass of
Hemphill; three sisters, Mrs. ? Stark of Lufkin, Mrs. ? Hogan of
Hemphill, and Alberta Turley of Many; and 18 grandchildren.
