Officiating was the Rev. James Van Hook Jr., pastor of the Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m., at the Springridge Cemetery near Pleasant Hill. Mr. Baxley died Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Willis Knighton Medical Center, following a short illness. He was born in Pleasant Hill, and had been a Shreveport resident for 45 years. He was a retired floor finisher, and a veteran of the United States Army in World War II. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his widow, Marie Baxley of Shreveport; five foster children, Jeanette Young, Doris Moreno, Bobby Wilkinson, Betty Ross, and Billie Frederick, all of Shreveport; ten grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were his nephews, and close friends.
