Beckom George Edgar Beckom, 92, of Plain Dealing, died Wednesday morning, July 19, at the Highland Hospital in Shreveport, after a short illness. Services were at 10 a.m., Friday, in the First United Methodist Church of Plain Dealing. The Rev. Leo Beck, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Shreveport, officiated. Graveside services were at 3 p.m., at Holly Grove Cemetery near Anacoco. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Plain Dealing. Mr. Beckom was a Hornbeck native, and was a retired businessman. A longtime Plain Dealing resident, he served as a State Representative from Bossier Parish from 1936 to 1940. Mr. Beckom was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plain Dealing. Survivors include four daughters, Natalie B. Thompson, and Opal B. Gill, both of Shreveport, Audrey B. Alexander of Gloster, and Bessie B. Johnson of Plain Dealing; one brother, Warren H. Beckom of Hornbeck; six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers were George Thompson, Richard Thompson, Dale Thompson, Wayne Nichols, Rodney Nichols, and R. L. Harvill.
