All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Ethel Stroud Bickham Mrs. Ethel Stroud Bickham, 82, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Landmark, Inc. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Siloam Baptist Cemetery near Many, at 4:30 p.m. The Rev. Larry Evans of First Baptist Church in Crowley, officiated. Mrs. Bickham completed college at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, and did her graduate work at Nacogdoches, Texas. She taught Home Economics for 15 years in Louisiana and Texas. She was a Home Economist in the Extension Service in Angelina County, Texas for three years, and in Acadia Parish for 23 years. In 1974, she received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Extension Home Economists in Minneapolis, Minn. She was also active in the Acadia Council on Child Abuse, Inc., GFWC, Beta Dephian Study Club, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She became a member of the First Baptist Church, at the age of nine, and has been active in the First Baptist Church of Crowley, in the Baptist Women's Group, in Bible Study, in the Rejoicers (senior citizen's choir), and in JOY (Just Older Youth) Club. Survivors include two nieces, Danna Kay Crochet of Luling, and Ricki O'Brien of New Iberia; four great nieces, Lisa Broussard, Ashley Lynn Crochet, Nicole Begnaud, and Tiffany Vergenal; and three great-great nieces. Mrs. Bickham was preceded in death by her husband, Walton Oliver Bickham, whom she married in 1946.
