All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Lynn "Chief" Becknell Funeral services for Lynn "Chief" Becknell, 74, of Carencro, were held Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at 2 p.m., at Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro. Officiating was Bro. John Lawler, pastor of Missionary Baptist Church in Zwolle. Interment was at Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro, under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home. Mr. Becknell died Sunday, Feb. 2, at 11:36 a.m., at his residence in Carencro. He was a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve in Lafayette, from 1965 to 1968. Mr. Becknell was also a member at large of the Masons, and past member of the Shriners. He was a native of Greenville, Texas, a former resident of Many, and a resident of Carencro since 1994. Mr. Becknell was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Bruce Becknell, and the former Aubrey Belle Allison, both natives of Texas; one son, Ronald Bruce Becknell; and one brother, B. A. Becknell. He is survived by his wife, the former Norma Currie of Carencro; three sons, Ronald Brewer of Orting, Wash., Daniel Brewer of Lafayette, and Robert Michael Brewer of LaPorte, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Deanna Lyn) Fisher of Jasper, Texas, and Mrs. R. D. (Rhonda Darrell) Thompson of Lafayette; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
