Boyd, Sr., 78, were at 3:30 p.m., Monday, March 7, at McGuire Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Frank Carroll, pastor of First Baptist Church of Oil City, assisted by Rev. Richard Beeman, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Vivian. Interment was at Chapelwood Cemetery. He died at 11 a.m., Sunday, March 6, at the North Caddo Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. Mr. Boyd, a native of Converse, a retired oil field worker, was a resident of Vivian since 1956. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oil City. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. DeAlma Boyd of Vivian; two sons, Vance Boyd, Jr. of Vivian, and William Boyd of Leesville; a daughter, Charlene Frisby of Sheridan, Arkansas; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Miller of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Vera Farrington of Plain Dealing, and Mrs. Ruthie Whitehurst of Conroe; three brothers, Guy Boyd of Midland, Texas, W. T. Boyd of Converse, and Troy Boyd of Mansfield; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tommy Boyd, Charlie Boyd, Edward Boyd, and Bill Boyd, Terry Beck, and Johnny Law.
