All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Emma Salley Bowden Services for Mrs. Emma Salley Bowden, 85, of Pleasant Hill, were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel, with the Rev. J. P. King officiating, assisted by the Rev. E. W. Coleman. Burial followed in the Zion Rest Cemetery in Wallace. Mrs. Bowden, a former resident of Benton for 17 years, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 1990, at P & S Hospital, following a lengthy illness. A native of Belmont, she had been a Pleasant Hill resident for the past 2 1/2 years. She was a housewife, and member of Blue Ridge Congregational Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James William (Willie) Bowden; two brothers, Malbry Salley, and Carl (Carlton) Salley. She is survived by three sons, Clarence Turner, (C. T.) Burk of Shreveport, Clifford D. Burk Sr. of Keithville, James M. Bowden of Benton; one daughter, Louise B. Tyler of Shreveport; four sisters, Eula Sellers of Shreveport, Carrah (Tollie) Steadman of Pelican, Opal Sistrunk of Pleasant Hill, Lois Austin of Sulphur; two brothers, Earl (Tommy) Salley of Sarepta, La., Joe Salley of Belmont, La.; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, cousins, and friends. The family suggested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, or the charity of donor's choice.
