He was 18, a native, and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a student at Redemptorist, and attended Many Jr. High School in 1986-1987. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gerad Majella Catholic Church, 2 p.m., Wednesday, was conducted by Father Reinhard Stump. Burial was at Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Cooper Betancourt of Many; father, Julio Joseph "Joe" Betancourt II of San Antonio, Tex.; maternal grandmother, Linnie Mae Cooper of Baton Rouge; paternal grandparents, Julio Betancourt Sr. and Dolores Betancourt of Baton Rouge; a half sister; a half brother; an aunt and uncle, Juanita and Cliff Hughes of Dallas, Tex.; a cousin, Frank Treigle of Dallas, Tex.; other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and numerous relatives in this area. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ruby Dale Cooper. Pallbearers were Jed Bradley, Scotty Guillory, Brian Robbins, Brad Vince, Lance Landry, Thomas Summerville, Devin Denny, and Curt Monte. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Thompson, Scott Delaune, Chris Boyd, Donnie Baker, Kelli Kean, Adam Tradeaux, and Thomas Durant. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church.
