Dallas Bateman

  Dallas Bateman, former Assistant County Agent of Sabine Parish,
who worked under County Agent Otis Jones, died in Kenya, South
Africa on Friday, Oct. 29.

  Mr. Bateman, who was a licensed minister, was a member of the
Many First Baptist Church. He had worked in the mission field
here before going to South Africa.

  Reports are that Mr. Bateman was recovering from surgery at the
time of his death. He was scheduled to be released the next day.

  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Margie Bateman; three
daughters, Dina Bateman, Tara Bateman, and Lori Bateman, all of
Kenya; his mother; several brothers; and one sister.

  Funeral services are to be held Thursday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m., in
the Franklinton Baptist Church.

  Several local residents are planning to attend.
