Blake Sr., 81, Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 6 p.m. He had been ill for several months. A prominent citizen of this area, Mr. Blake started working for Peoples State Bank on Oct. 1, 1914, as cashier. He had been president of the bank for over 50 years. All told, Mr. Blake had been connected with the Peoples Bank one year after it was organized, until the time of his death. He was a member of the Louisiana Bankers Association, and was recognized for more than 50 years of service to banking in Louisiana. Mr. Blake was a charter member of the Many Lions Club, and served twice as its president. He was also a member of the Zwolle Chapter of the Knights of Columbus, and was a Fourth Degree General Assembly Knight in the Shreveport Chapter. Mr. Blake was born Oct. 3, 1885, in Many. He attended St. Johns School in Shreveport. He was married to the former Jessie Miller, who died about three years ago. Surviving Mr. Blake is a son, John Blake Jr., who is executive vice president of the Peoples State Bank; also a sister, Mrs. Mary B. Jordan of Many; and three grandchildren. Last rites for Mr. Blake were held Thursday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m., in St. John, with Father William Kwaaitaal, and Father M. R. Gremillion officiating. Burial was in St. John Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. A rosary for Mr. Blake was recited Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 8 p.m., in the chapel of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers for Mr. Blake were Claude Andries, J. S. Pickett Jr., S. W. Nichols, Dr. C. B. Tramel, C. A. Hays, E. B. Noland, Will Andries, and Mike Pearson.
