L. J. Nichols and Rev.. Emory Wallace officiating. A second service was held at 2 p.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church at Florien. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery. Blackwell died Monday, Jun 17 in a hospital at Deridder. Survivors are his widow; five daughters, Mrs Macel Colquette of Houma, Mrs. Hazel Plunkett of Deridder, Mrs. Nellie Grass of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs Irene Captelletie of Lansing, Mich., and Mrs. Dollie Horn of Martinville, Va.; two sons Melvin Blackwell of McKinney, Tex., and Billy Blackwell of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother Howard Blackwell of Florien; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Miller and Mrs. Bertha Salter, both of Many, Mrs. Hattie Cook and Mrs. Zelma Anthony, both of Florien and Mrs.. Bertha Leach of Shreveport; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
