All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Murphy Blackwell Funeral services for Murphy Blackwell of Monroe, were held in the Kilpatrick Funeral Chapel on Sunday, June 6, at 3 p.m. Officiating at the services were the Rev. M. J. Bounds, and the Rev. Perry Lassiter. Burial followed in the Twin Cities Memorial Gardens. Mr. Blackwell died on Friday, June 4, in the St. Francis Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was 83. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Edna Blackwell of Monroe; two sons, Murphy Blackwell Jr. of West Monroe, and Edwin Blackwell of Pineville; four daughters, Ruth Stracener of Many, Anna Lou Ryland of Irvine, Calif., Mary Louise Towris of West Monroe, and Janet Russell of Farmerville; one sister, Lexie Singleton of Tylertown, Miss.; two brothers, Easley Blackwell of Belle Chase, and Ily Blackwell of Bogalusa; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Mr. Blackwell was a retired steam fitter with Local Union 459. He was also owner of Richwood Memorial Gardens.
