Blackwell, 77, of Many, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 20, 1985, at the Sabine Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, at Calvary Baptist Church in Many. Rev. Bobby Dye, and Rev. Dan Perego officiated. Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in death by her husband, James Alford Blackwell; one son, Floyd Blackwell; and one daughter, Leatrice Nichols. She is survived by two sons, James (Burt) C. Blackwell of Many, and David Kenneth Blackwell of Lake Charles; four daughters, Mary Edna Keith of Moreland, Kansas, Marjorie Cook of Anacoco, Dianne Polk of Little Rock, Ark., and Joyce Walker of Shreveport; two brothers, Joe Self of Houston, Tex., and Albert Self of Robeline; one sister, Viola Brumley of Cleveland, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mike Nichols, Rickey Blackwell, Scott Blackwell, Dale Blackwell, Craig Hartley, Darin Walker, Mark Walker, and Greg Booker, all grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Benny Funderburk, David Barnhill, Larry Morris, Bud Frey, Gene Lawrence, and Joe DeBose. Interment was at Fenders Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many.
