The Rev. Leon Williams, associate pastor of Highland Baptist Church, where Mr. Blackmon was a member, officiated. Burial was at Centuries Memorial Park. Mr. Blackmon died Monday, April 7, 1986, at V. A. Medical Center, after a long illness. He was born in Vernon Parish, La. Mr. Blackmon had been a resident of Shreveport for 32 years, and was retired from Bewley Furniture Co. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Johnston Blackmon of Shreveport; three sons, Larry Gene Blackmon of Monroe, Dennis Lester Blackmon of Whitehouse, Texas, Marcus Newell Blackmon of Keni, Alaska; two sisters, Hazel Beral of Pineville, Marie Crutchfield of Many; one brother, J. C. Blackmon of Vidor, Texas; five grandchildren.
