"Sam" Ballenger, 82, of Henderson, were held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 17, at Crawford A. Crim Church, with Rev. James Dawson officiating. Interment followed at New Prospect Cemetery, under the direction of Crawford A. Crim Funeral Home. Mr. Ballenger died at 8:35 p.m., Saturday, June 15, at Henderson Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ballenger was born Aug. 12, 1908, in Church Hill. He is survived by one son, Dr. Richard Wade Ballenger of Nacogdoches; two daughters, Mrs. Diane Scritchfield of Henderson, and Mrs. Renny Eaves of Tenaha; two sisters, Isabel Leath of Henderson, and Anna Lou Wylie of Longview; two sisters-in-law, Eddith Ballenger of Wills Point, and Dorothy Glasgow of Oakhill; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were Butch Manasco, C. W. Nelson, D. S. Howard, Vernon Ralston, Jerry Wayne Smith, and Patrick Warren. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Wylie, Jack Leath, Sonny Leath, Brent Ballenger, and Tommy Landrum.
