Blankenship, 77, of Lufkin, were held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, in the Chapel of the Last Supper, with Rev. John Withem officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Blankenship was born December 17, 1917, in Sabine Parish. He fought a courageous fight with his illness since February of this year, and died Sunday, July 30, 1995, at his residence. Mr. Blankenship was a retired U. S. Air Force Master Sergeant, and a retired aircraft mechanic. He was a Baptist. A former resident of Austin and Houston, Mr. Blankenship had lived in Lufkin since March 1980. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Blankenship of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur Wade and Sandra Blankenship of Houston, Rodney Lynn and Dorothy Blankenship of Lufkin; daughters, Mary Elaine Clark of Plano, Barbara Ann Taylor of Dallas, Frances Jeanine Blankenship of Lufkin; nine grandchildren, Todd Mestemacher, Steven Mestemacher, Christy Waldrop, Garland Waldrop, Tammy Taylor, Andrew Blankenship, Alan Blankenship, Jennifer Blankenship, and Holley Blankenship; brothers, Ted Blankenship of Pleasant Hill, and Mr. Edgar Blankenship of Shreveport; sister, Doris A. West of Huntsville, Ala.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
