Bowling was a passenger in a 1951 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Tim N. Schroeder, 29, of Many. Schroeder was rushed to Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport, where his condition is now listed as good. The driver of the other vehicle, a 1968 Chevrolet station wagon, was Tony Rosalez, 21, of Hemphill, Tex. Rosalez, who was pinned in his vehicle, is in guarded condition in the intensive care unit at Confederate. A passenger in the station wagon, Federico Lozova, 21, also of Hemphill, received injuries. According to TFC James H. Hudgens of Troop H., Leesville, the Schroeder vehicle was traveling north on Highway 475, when it met the Rosalez vehicle. The Rosalez vehicle was approximately one foot over the center line, according to the investigating officer. Schroeder ran off the roadway to avoid collision, and hit a hole in the road. His vehicle came back up on the highway, and into the path of the Rosalez car. Schroeder's truck hit the front left side of the Rosalez car, driving it sideways off the road. Schroeder's truck then spun around, throwing Bowling out of the truck. Bowling was killed instantly. Blood alcohol tests were run on the drivers. The results have not been received from the crime lab in Shreveport as of press time Wednesday. The Rescue Squad of the Many Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene shortly after the accident. They rescued Rosalez, who was pinned in his vehicle. Charges have not been filed as of press time, according to Troop H. Funeral services for Bowling were held at the St. John Catholic Church on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. Father Patrick Scully officiated.
