All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Lloyd Blount Lloyd Blount was seriously injured, and his wife was killed in a head-on crash near Rutledge, Tenn., Saturday, about 6:30 p.m. Their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lloyd W. Blount, a passenger in the car, received minor injuries. The Blounts owned and operated the L&L Café in Many. According to reports received by the INDEX, the party was traveling toward Louisiana. It is reported that the Blount car was ? of speed, and an approaching car, traveling at a high rate of speed, veered into Blount's lane of traffic, and the two met head-on. Blount was reported in satisfactory condition Wednesday morning. He suffered a broken right arm and leg. He is hospitalized at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital at Knoxville. The daughter-in-law has returned to Louisiana. Funeral services for Mrs. Blount, 54, were held in the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. W. R. Ledford officiating. Burial was in the Many Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Lloyd Blount of Many; one son,, Lloyd W. Blount, serving with the U.S. Marines; one daughter, Mrs. Southards of Coldwater, Kan.; one sister, Rose Kulp of Fredericksburg, Va.; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were J. E. Davis, Bobby Williams, J. S. Pickett Jr., Mike Peason, J. E. Rhodes, and Toy Gaddis.
