Bullard were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 25, at the First Baptist Church in Zwolle. Rev. Fisk Ray, Rev. Jerry Penfield, and Rev. Bobby Dye officiated. Burial was held in the Zwolle Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Bullard passed away Monday evening, June 22, at the Willis Knighton Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born in Belmont, La., where he received his early education. He later attended the University of Birmingham, England, and graduated from Soule' Business College of New Orleans. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. Mr. Bullard was the former owner of a Western Auto Store, and building materials supply business in Zwolle, as well as a real estate developer in Zwolle and Sabine Parish. He was a charter member, and past president of the Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce, and the Zwolle Lions Club. He served on the Zwolle City Council from 1950 until 1960, when he was elected to the Sabine Parish School Board, where he served as Board President in 1969 and 1970. He was also a long time member and Vice Chairman of the Sabine River Authority. In 1971, he was appointed Permit Supervisor of Toledo Bend Reservoir. Mr. Bullard was a devoted Christian, who served his church in many capacities. He was a long time member of the Zwolle First Baptist Church, where he was ordained a deacon in 1947. He served as chairman of the Church Board of Trustees for over 20 years. He also was active in the North Sabine Baptist Association, as a member and officer, and was the only lay person ever appointed Moderator of the Association. At the time of his death, Mr. Bullard was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Bullard was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Robye L. Bullard; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Bullard. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Glenwood and Connie Bullard of Belmont; four nieces, Janell Bullard of Shreveport, Margaret Krutzer of Minden, Carol Kuehner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sheila Theriot of Rayne, La.; and two great nieces, Kristin and Meredith Mitchell of Minden. Pallbearers were Milton McFerrin, Dr. Hubert L. Prerosty, Dr. Richard J. Oosta, Dr. J. Lane Sauls, M. W. Finut, Homer Brown, Garrett H. Walsh Jr., and James D. Napier. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Zwolle First Baptist Church, and members of the M. E. Marr Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Summer Grove Baptist Church.
